Crafts that are easy and simple
- Christmas Tree Candy Canes
Here’s a fun craft for you to make with your kids. You’ll need a styrofoam cone and red pom pom candy cane. There are a lot of patterns available on Pinterest for making this craft, and we’ve picked out some of the best ones for you to enjoy.
- Chunky Grinny Bears
Chunky Grinny Bears are very cute and can be easily made at home. All you need is a bear cookie cutter (I recommend using a mitten shape cookie cutter), brown yarn, and a sharp pair of scissors. Just follow this tutorial on The Homemade Life.
- Crayon Trees
If you’re looking for something for a different twist on Christmas, this is it. All you need to do is just buy some crayons, a scissors and go wild! Just make some feathers and spray paint them to give the trees some color.
Crafts that are a little more difficult
Here are some of the more difficult crafts that you and your kids can make together:
Paper plate crafts
If you have kids that enjoy painting, have them try making a paper plate ornaments. You can easily get started by cutting out your own paper plates (we are using paper plates from Costco). Place some glue on the back of the paper plate and allow it to dry. Next, you can paint your paper plate ornaments. You can use any colors that you want, but we are using white because we want the kids to be able to glue any glitter they want to the ornament. Glitter really makes your crafts shine! The fun part is picking out the glitter! 🙂
Time-Saver Crafts
If you are short on time, here are some Christmas crafts that you can do in one hour or less.
Tools and Supplies
Wooden & Glue Gun
Timers
Long Sticky Hair Needles
Scissors
Glue (We recommend hot glue)
Clear Paints (We recommend Crayola Color Wonder Paints)
Step 1
To get started, gather all your supplies and set a timer for 10 minutes. Start making your crafts right after the timer goes off and finish it in the last 10 minutes.
Step 2
First, glue the eyes onto the dog. Then, create the collar and legs of the dog.
Step 3
Use a white paint pen to make the outline of Santa and the sleigh. Then, using hot glue, put the design on Santa and the sleigh. Finish up the rest of the project by adding your ornaments, creating a festive Christmas scene.
Step 4
Next, you will need to cut out Christmas tree, dog, Christmas, and some ornaments.
The steps to creating the perfect Christmas craft
In the first step, simply pick your favorite craft project. Decide whether you want to make a canvas picture, or make paper snowflakes, or even a glittery string of lights for your tree. Either way, you are going to need a blank canvas to work with.
After you pick your project, get a blank canvas. The canvas can be as large as you want. It does not have to be square. However, it must be at least 24-inches in diameter, and it must be as flat as you can make it. Using chalk, draw out a design on the canvas. This can be anything from a simple drawing of a Christmas tree, or a penguin, to a huge snowflake. Make sure that you also draw your child’s name on the canvas. When you are finished, paint over the design on the canvas. Use a painting spray, because this will help the paint stay on.
Conclusion.
It doesn’t matter if you make a simple Christmas tree ornament or a super detailed reindeer. With these ideas and the love and support of your kids, anything is possible.
